Interview with Randall Peteros, J.D.
Faculty Coordinator for ISP, Enterprise Management
Why would an Enterprise Management major want to go overseas?
RP: The ISP Enterprise Management track offers participants a unique opportunity to gain a leg up on the competition in a short period of time. The combination of earning graduate business school credits during the summer months while studying in two distinct international locations should be attractive to students and future employers alike.
What factors were considered when selecting the destinations?
RP: The Barcelona, Spain and Shanghai, China venues were selected not only due to their robust economies, but for the contrast in eastern and western cultures as well. Each country is rich in history and each offers a vast array of new and innovative business practices to observe and learn from.
In what ways will Rensselaer International Scholars be better prepared
for their career?
RP: Upon completion of the program, as a Rensselaer International Scholar, individuals will bring a broader, more worldly international business perspective to the workplace. This should prove attractive to potential employers and equip ISP graduates with the confidence and ability to undertake future international work assignments.
What sort of project work will students be involved with?
RP: Program participants will apply classroom concepts and practices to actual issues facing companies conducting business in these international venues. Rensselaer will provide access to these select companies and their management through its extensive international partnerships.
What kind of corporate partnerships does Rensselaer have? Will there
be networking opportunities?
RP: Another exceptional benefit from the program should be the opportunity for students to meet and establish a network of relationships with fellow students, their professors, and international contacts they make while abroad.
What should students expect in the classroom experience? How is this
different than courses on campus?
RP: The classroom experience will be dynamic and interactive. Each course is taught by experienced and highly energetic professors with extensive academic and professional backgrounds. Further, as mentioned, course work will be supplemented with real-world application and experience including visits to international businesses.
What background do I need for the International Scholars Program in
Enterprise Management?
RP: Requirements for admission to ISP include an undergraduate degree, impressive academic achievement, and meaningful work experience and/or other notable life accomplishments and experiences. All combined these requirements will ensure a diverse and uniquely qualified cohort of students from which all will learn from.
Why Rensselaer?
RP: Rensselaer’s long and distinguished history of providing world-class educational opportunities while also producing world-renowned achievements, combines to make Rensselaer the preferred choice for a valuable and life lasting international educational experience.
