INNOVATION & CORPORATE ENTREPRENEURSHIP (ICE)

It Takes More Than Incremental Improvement and Operational Excellence to Lead Your Industry
An infrastructure for sustainable Breakthrough Innovation is one of the most important competencies an established business can develop. This is the practice of leading markets with breakthroughs based on innovative technologies and new insights applied to existing technologies – and this innovation infrastructure is a vital objective for any company that wants to be competitive in the 21st Century.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute – one of the premier technological universities in the United States – is a leader in understanding, improving, and furthering the Breakthrough Innovation body of knowledge. Since 1995, Rensselaer’s Lally School of Management and Technology has lead the way in the study of Breakthrough Innovation with programs that explore and quantify the competencies, systems, and practices that are central to the vitality of sustainable Innovation within large, established organizations.
An Opportunity to Lead Breakthrough Innovation in Your Industry
Succeeding in the Long Run
Companies seek top-line growth through many venues: geographic and market expansion, acquisition, and organic growth via innovation. To succeed at innovation, companies must not only know how to innovate quickly in response to market needs, but they must also lead markets with breakthroughs based on novel technologies and novel insights.
A Sustainable and Repeatable Process for Breakthrough Innovation
Companies that have commercialized breakthroughs historically do so by relying on strong champions, mavericks in their organizations, who are provided protection by senior leadership and allowed to break rules in order to make breakthroughs successful. This is not a path to a sustainable organizational breakthrough innovation competency.
The ability to create a highly repeatable, quantifiable system that can produce breakthrough products and processes within a large, existing corporate structure has been both a challenge and a coveted objective in industry.
Innovation and Corporate Entrepreneurship (ICE), developed from twelve years of research in Innovation at Rensselaer’s Lally School of Management and Technology, is a unique offering that brings together innovation thought leaders from business and academia and brings their combined energy to bear on one of the most important business challenges of the new century.
Join a Group of Powerful Leaders from Diverse Industries
Rensselaer’s Lally School of Management and Technology is currently assembling a consortium of companies that will participate in the upcoming ICE Cohort Group. Up to ten companies will be included in the Cohort with company representatives from two organizational levels – Senior Leadership and Project Team Members.
Companies from noncompeting industries will engage in seminars and workshops designed to understand and develop management systems and processes for Breakthrough Innovation.
