This is a graduate level intensive course on the applied physical metallurgy of thermal processing of steel. The course reviews the basics and then explores advanced concepts in thermal processing of steel in the liquid and solid states and concludes with a review of selected work representing the state of the art in our understanding of the subject with an emphasis on mathematical modeling apoproaches. Application examples are used throughout.
