The objective of this site is to demonstrate the application of mathematical modeling methods to the analysis of a selected collection of processes and phenomena encountered in metallurgy and materials engineering. The common feature is that in all the systems examined the governing equations represent a conservation principle, i.e. conservation of mass, energy, momentum or charge.
The cases selected are representative of situations in which I have been personally involved. Therefore, I have experienced at close range the pitfalls and successes involved in developing mathematical models of metallurgical and materials engineering systems and believe those experiences are worth sharing with others.
I thank CINVESTAV-Saltillo for making possible for me to present this material at the Center.
