Professional Associates: Your Key to Career Enrichment

You are a working professional, producing for your company, attending graduate classes at Rensselaer at Hartford, and interested in further enriching your career and professional life. Have you considered joining a professional association? Professional associations can be connected to a particular industry, job function, or educational degree. They are often organized on a global or nationwide basis with local, state, or city affiliates.

As is often true in joining organizations: you get out what you put in. Professional organizations can:

  • Connect you with people who are working in the same field, have like job functions, and/or similar professional interests,
  • Provide you with opportunities to demonstrate leadership and management skills by serving as an officer, board member, or committee chair,
  • Offer opportunities to compare work experiences, industry specific strategies, and problem solving techniques, and
  • Continue your efforts in pursuing lifelong education through industry-based, subject specific publications, and professional development activities.

Rensselaer at Hartford faculty belong to the following professional associations and organizations. Checkout their web sites or give them a call. Find out about local chapter activities and consider joining. Your participation may be limited to attending one or two events a year, a monthly meeting, or working on a special project. The choice is yours.
