Rensselaer Hartford Alumni Chapter Presents Alumni Career Networking Evening, Open to the Public
HARTFORD, CONN – The Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) Hartford Chapter will hold its “Alumni Career Networking Evening” on Thursday, May 24, at 6 p.m. This program offers something for everyone including those aiming to improve current positions, looking for better career opportunities, or actively seeking a job. The event will provide the opportunity to discuss networking techniques and experiences, and practice communication skills.
Career management firms, government agencies, and technical organizations will be present to provide information and answer questions related to the job market. They will also discuss how to successfully identify and approach opportunities, and the tools necessary for career advancement in today’s job market. The following representatives will be present:
- James Austin, Editor, ScienceCareers.org, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)
- David Hobbs, Chairman, Connecticut Section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)
- David Palmer, Director, Hartford Section, and Russell Crandall, member of the Executive Board of the Hartford Section, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
- Mark Stankiewicz, Operations Coordinator, Office of Research, CT Department of Labor
- Jack Antonich, Outreach Coordinator for Connecticut Career Choices (CCC) Initiative, and Mike Scricca, Membership Director, Connecticut Technology Council (CTC)
- Anne Fitzgerald ’85, Career Consultant, Drake Beam Morin, Inc. (DBM)
- Shakira Ramos, President, and Angel Santiago, Student Relations, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers of Connecticut (SHPE-CT) Hartford Chapter

A buffet dinner will precede the program at 5:30 p.m. The program will begin with a brief welcome and introduction of the participating representatives by Tom Tarantelli, Director of the Career Development Center at Rensselaer, and Tony DeMarco ’72, President of the Hartford Alumni Chapter. A networking session will follow and the evening will end with a Q&A session. The cost to attend the event is $10 per person for dues-paying chapter members and $15 per person for all others.
