Rensselaer’s Centers for Professional Development (RCPD) Presents Powerful and Popular Leadership Seminar Series
EVENT: The Leadership Seminar Series presented by Rensselaer’s Centers for Professional Development focuses on real-world, outcome-driven strategies, and innovative methods for leading change. Topics for discussion include: theories, concepts, strategies, and practices for developing the leadership talent necessary to turn opportunities and challenges into extraordinary outcomes.
DATES AND TIMES: The three seminar series will run half-days, 8:30 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
Seminar 1: Applying Lean Where You Least Expect It – May 16, 2007
Seminar 2: Strategic Thinking and Leading Change – June 11, 2007
Seminar 3: Outsourcing, Insourcing, and Globalization – June 19, 2007
LOCATION: Seminar Hall, Rensselaer Hartford Campus, 275 Windsor Street, Hartford, CT
REGISTRATION: $175 per person per seminar or $475 per person for all three seminars. (Price includes free parking and beverage breaks).
SEMINAR SCHEDULE: The first seminar, Applying Lean Where You Least Expect It, will feature the following presentations: “Lean Applied to the Public Sector,” by John Maleyeff, Ph.D., Rensselaer Professor; “Lean Applied to Outsourcing and International Partnerships,” by Edward D. Arnheiter, Rensselaer Associate Professor; and “Lean Applied to Business Processes at Wiremold,” by Anthony C. Laraia, Plant Manager, Wiremold Legrand. James P. Stodder, Ph.D., Rensselaer Associate Professor, will provide the opening remarks and will moderate a round table panel discussion.
THE IMPORTANCE OF LEADERSHIP: Leadership is the most critical core competency of 21st century corporations. Human capital is the strategic resource for leading change and improving performance. The complexity of globalization, shortening product life cycles, and the proliferation of information, among many other driving forces, makes decision making more challenging. The capabilities and qualities of executive leadership are among the most important variables in creating future value and sustaining long-term performance.
