NEWSMAKERS Rensselaer Students Honored with Founders Award of Excellence
HARTFORD, CONN – One current M.B.A. candidate, Mary Beth Boucher of Deep River, a student at Rensselaer's Southeastern CT Site; one recent graduate of Rensselaer's Hartford Campus, Eric C. Peterson of East Longmeadow, MA; and one Rensselaer distributed education student, Lubens Bonhomme, of Sanford, FL; have received the prestigious Founders Award of Excellence, one of the highest student honors at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The award honors Rensselaer students who embody qualities of creativity, discovery, leadership, pride, and responsibility. The Founders Award winners were recognized during Rensselaer's fourteenth annual Honors Convocation held at the Troy, New York campus on October 20. Boucher is studying for an M.B.A. degree as a member of Rensselaer's cohort program. She is employed at Pfizer as Director, Worldwide Technology Engineering with responsibility for Global Program Delivery. Boucher said, “My course study at Rensselaer allows me to take more than 15 years of professional experience and identify alignment with management best practices and theory. In addition, the coursework has introduced me to new knowledge domains and therefore expanded my professional capabilities.” Peterson earned a Rensselaer M.S. in Management degree as a member of the Executive Master's Program Class XXVI, and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. focusing on Radical Innovation at Rensselaer's Troy Campus. He is VP of Creative Ventures at Hasbro Inc. Peterson was inspired to return to academia in his former role as VP of Electronic Engineering and Technology Development for Hasbro. “Although experienced as a technology and innovation practitioner in a global company, I felt that balancing my experience with additional formal preparation would better equip me to perform for Hasbro,” he said. Bonhomme will graduate this December earning an M.S. in Management from Rensselaer. He is an Information Systems Analyst working for Lockheed Martin Corporation in Orlando, FL, where he supports the Enterprise Operations Financial Systems from a security administration perspective. Bonhomme explained, “The Lally School's Management program bridges my business acumen gap allowing me to understand my customers business needs from a financial point of view.”
