Newsmakers Rensselaer at Hartford Presents Outstanding Student Award and Computer Science Conference Awards During Commencement ExercisesHARTFORD, CONN – Three Rensselaer students from the 301 graduates of the Class of 2005-2006 were recognized with special awards during Commencement Exercises at Rensselaer's Hartford Campus on Saturday, June 3. The Hartford Chapter of the Rensselaer Alumni Association presented its annual Outstanding Student Award. Faculty members submitted nominations for the award based on graduating students who had distinguished themselves from their peers through superior academic achievement, demonstrated leadership skills, works published, and contributions to Rensselaer. The Outstanding Student Award from the Lally School of Management and Technology was presented to Ellen B. St. Aubin, of East Lyme. She graduated with an M.S. in Management as part of the Executive Master's Program (EMP) Class XXV, completing her studies with a 4.0 G.P.A. St. Aubin is currently the Director of Business Protection for Pfizer Global Research and Development in New London. Two students were recognized for their work at the 22nd Annual Rensselaer at Hartford Computer Science Seminar Conference held in April. The conference serves as a culminating experience for students to complete their master's degrees. Both winners were distance education students. Gary A. Fisher, Sr., of LaGrange, New York, received the award for “Most Original Paper” for his paper entitled, “Internet Server Congestion Control.” Mr. Fisher is a Senior Software Engineer in the Server and Storage Lab Engineering Department at IBM Corporation in Poughkeepsie, New York. Matthew C. Brewer, of Dayton, Ohio, won the award for “Most Outstanding Presentation” for his presentation entitled, “Investigation of User Interfaces of Windows-Based Mobile Computing Devices.” Mr. Brewer is a Senior Software Engineer at PKWARE, Inc., in Miamisburg, Ohio. # # # |
