Rensselaer Alumni Association Hartford Chapter Presents a Discussion with Mr. Gordon Hard, Editor and Automotive Writer, Consumer Reports

What do you look for when buying a car? Cost, reliability, safety, fuel-efficiency? With gasoline prices soaring to over $3.00 a gallon, many of us are looking a little more carefully at the type of vehicles we see on the road.

EVENT: The Hartford Chapter of the Rensselaer Alumni Association will host an evening with Mr. Gordon Hard, Senior Editor and Principal Automotive Writer, Consumer Reports. Mr. Hard is the magazine's main auto writer, working out of the Auto Test Facility in East Haddam, Connecticut, which is the largest, most sophisticated consumer-based facility of its kind. Mr. Hard writes ten or more road test reports each year and contributes material for the Annual Buying Guide, auto-related publications, and the Web site, ConsumerReports.org.

Mr. Hard will talk about the hybrid cars of the future, and an outlook of what is realistic and what is not in alternative fuels. He will also share his 21 years of experience with Consumer Reports, including the ins and outs of buying a car, the magazine's impact on car manufacturers, and his personal philosophies.

In addition, two hybrid cars from a local auto dealership will be on display for viewing.
