News FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 8, 2005 Contact: Robin Micket (860) 548-7894 Rensselaer at Hartford Conducts 25th Season of Summer Computer Camp HARTFORD , CONN – Rensselaer at Hartford's Summer Computer Camp is proud to celebrate its 25th anniversary season serving children from two Hartford area elementary schools: Barnard-Brown and SAND. Twenty-five students are involved in the program designed to increase computer literacy and research skills for the technologically driven world. The children interact creatively through hands-on computer training during a four-week session. The computer programs used during camp focus on the integration of language arts, reading, writing, and mathematics skills. This year's theme for the camp is dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures. Campers learn to use the Internet to conduct research, create their own Web pages in HTML, and the process of linking their home pages to other Web sites. The Museum of Black Invention and Innovation will present an interactive exhibit for the campers as part of their educational programming. Students visit the Mystic Aquarium Education Center on Main Street in Hartford once a week for activities involving marine studies. In addition, field trips are integrated with classroom learning, and this year, students have the opportunity to enjoy the Peabody Museum of Natural History, Nature's Art, and the Basketball Hall of Fame. Rensselaer at Hartford is grateful to numerous individuals and organizations for their support and commitment to the camp. Camp hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Field trips are conducted on Fridays.
