Rensselaer Hosts Career Night: Strategies in Career Management

EVENT: The Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) Hartford Chapter hosts Career Night: Strategies in Career Management. Join us as we explore the various aspects of careers with a distinguished group of panelists who will discuss areas such as advancement, changing workplace environments, locating new opportunities and markets, and developing and using career tools such as résumés and online postings.

DATE: Thursday, May 27, 2004

TIME: 5:30 - 8 p.m.

LOCATION, DIRECTIONS, PARKING: Seminar Hall Complex, Rensselaer at Hartford, 275 Windsor Street, Hartford, Connecticut. For directions to the campus, please click HERE. Free parking is available in the on-site garage.

The evening’s program includes a speaker panel with the following guests:

  • Tom Tarantelli, Director of Career Services for Rensselaer as panel moderator
  • Tony Drapelick, Managing Director, Drake Beam Morin, Hartford, Connecticut office
  • John Tirinzonie, State Labor Economist, Connecticut Department of Labor
  • Dr. Donna Riley, Assistant Professor, Picker Engineering Program at Smith College in Massachusetts, discussing the American Association for the Advancement of Science
  • Meredith Webster, Manager, Pratt & Whitney Talent Center

TOPIC DISCUSSION: It’s a take-nothing-for-granted "just-in-time" job market. This is not a market where you can only count on your experience or your education to attract attention. Job seekers need to be prepared and proactive to actively promote themselves. The most important parts of this process are planning and following-up on all leads.
