Newsmakers Rensselaer Alumni Association Annual Award Winners Announced HARTFORD,
CONN The Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) of Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute recently announced its 2004 award winners. The Rensselaer
Hartford Chapter was awarded the Chapter of the Year Award, which recognizes
the outstanding programs and activities of the regional alumni chapters.
The Hartford Chapter of the RAA includes several officers who hold two
degrees from Rensselaer, and some members of the leadership team who
have earned degrees at both the main campus in Troy, New York and at
Rensselaer at Hartford. The Directors Award, presented to individuals
who have made significant contributions to the success of the RAA and
to the Office of Alumni Relations during the past year was awarded to
Rensselaer Hartford Chapter President Beth Fabian of West Hartford
(00 B.S. Environmental Engineering). Fabian is currently working
toward an M.S. in Management at Rensselaer at Hartford. Past President
of the RAA (2001-2003), Leland B. Bishop II (60 B.S. Mechanical
Engineering, 80 M.S. Management), who attended the Troy campus
to earn an undergraduate degree and the Hartford campus to earn a graduate
degree, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award, the highest award
the association bestows, which recognizes truly distinguished service
to a profession, to the nation, or to humanity. The other members of the Hartford Chapter leadership for the Fiscal Year 2003-2004 are as follows: Treasurer, Anthony DeMarco of Manchester (72 M.S.); Programs & Events Committee, Amy Green of East Hampton (98 B.S., 00 M.S.) and Nate Harris of New Britain (00 B.S.); Student Recruitment Committee, Mark Lescher of Simsbury (75 B.S., 76 M.B.A.); and Communications Committee, Vanessa Dudack of West Hartford (00 B.S.).
