Events Rensselaer at Hartford's IT Lecture Series Presents: “Attacking the Challenge of Valuing IT” EVENT: Lynn A. DeNoia, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Engineering and Science, Rensselaer at Hartford, will present a lecture titled, “Attacking the Challenge of Valuing IT.” The presentation is part of the Rensselaer Centers for Professional Development lecture series “IT's Only Breakfast.” DATE: Friday, October 8, 2004 TIME: 7:30 - 9 a.m. LOCATION: Rensselaer at Hartford, 275 Windsor Street, Hartford, Connecticut ADMISSION: Registration is required and open to all interested participants. The cost of the lecture is $25 and includes breakfast and free on-site parking. Attention Rensselaer students: you may attend the session for FREE when you register a paying friend. TOPIC DISCUSSION: While we could probably argue indefinitely about how/whether IT has increased our productivity, providing metrics for the value of IT is an important challenge. Starting with some simple definitions is a good beginning for establishing what IT contributes to your own organization. During this lecture, a top-down approach to value metrics will be provided as a way to start developing the process of understanding and calculating IT value. ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Dr. DeNoia (www.ewp.rpi.edu/hartford/~denoial/) is well known for applying appropriate network and computing technologies to solve business problems and to meet current and future business requirements. Dr. DeNoia also draws on over 30 years of experience, having worked in numerous positions as a consultant, CIO, and technology specialist. Her current focus is on assisting IT organizations to become more effective and to increase their success in meeting business objectives.
