News Rensselaer at Hartford Receives $15,000 Grant from UTC HARTFORD, CONN Rensselaer at Hartford has received a $15,000 grant from United Technologies Corporation (UTC) to create a multimedia classroom. The UTC grant is being used to install multimedia components to a classroom for enhanced instructor and student presentations. The grant will support a multimedia classroom that includes the installation of a multimedia projector, VHS VCR, screen, documentation camera, and power amplifier. The grant provides resources for Rensselaer at Hartfords ongoing mission to ensure that our graduate programs and learning technologies are at the cutting edge and responsive to the communitys changing business and educational needs. Rensselaer has been successful in providing masters degree, certificate, and professional development programs on topics critical to maintaining a competitive advantage for businesses and the community. There are numerous state-of-the-art multimedia classrooms and computer laboratories at Rensselaers Hartford campus. The long-term goal is to provide all classrooms and labs with the same equipment upgrades so that there is consistency among the technological resources throughout the facilities. This seamless integration will offer improved access to leading edge educational tools and the opportunity for enhanced presentations. Brian Clement, Chief Information Officer, Technical and Information Services, Rensselaer at Hartford, thanked UTC for their generous support, and was very pleased with the grant. He noted that "The grant will improve our facilities and provides faculty with additional resources, which in turn helps us to better serve our students." Clement will work closely with Paul J. Murphy, Director, Operations and Facilities, in the implementation of the redesigned multimedia classroom.
