Student Appreciation Week Wrap-up for Spring 2003

Thank You to Our Students!

Rensselaer at Hartford continued the tradition of thanking our students for choosing Rensselaer by celebrating Student Appreciation Week for the Spring term, March 8-15. Since Rensselaer students are busy working professionals who often are heading to class without much of a meal, we provided a free pizza party to satisfy their appetites. Rensselaer served over 1,450 students at the Hartford campus, and over 200 students at the Groton site. Food and beverages were a welcome sight for students, along with the opportunity to chat and share a laugh with Rensselaer faculty and staff, as well as fellow students, outside of the classroom setting. The Hartford cafeteria and the Groton student lounge were festive environments to take a break from the pressures of academics and work.

All active students were automatically entered into a raffle to win one of two Rensselaer sweatshirts, donated by the Rensselaer Bookstore. The winners of the drawing were: from the Hartford campus, Gil Ramos, who is working toward an M.S. in Management; and from the Groton site, Shawn William Musselman, who is studying toward an M.B.A. In addition, Hartford students could partake in free, five-minute chair massages, while Groton students were able to attend a Q&A session with Dr. Alan C. Eckbreth, Vice President and Dean.

Students received a special coupon offer for 20% off their next clothing purchase at the Rensselaer at Hartford Bookstore. Lisa Matarazzo, Bookstore Operations Manager, came up with the coupon idea to encourage school spirit by wearing our school logo and colors. On the back of the coupon, students had the opportunity to enter a drawing (no purchase necessary) to win up to $100 off of their Summer Term 2003 textbook purchases. The lucky winner was Kathleen Reichenberger, a student at the Hartford campus who is working toward an M.S. in Computer Science. Reichenberger, who recently moved to Connecticut from Massachusetts, is completing her first term at Rensselaer. As a self-funded student, she is definitely excited to have been chosen as the winner. Reichenberger is enjoying her studies at Rensselaer and is looking forward to her summer textbook shopping spree!
