HARTFORD, CONN. – Mary S. Dixey of Orange, Connecticut has been appointed Director, The Robert L. and Sara Marcy Cole Library, Rensselaer at Hartford. The Cole Library provides users with information resources and services that focus on the areas of management, business, computer science, and engineering. Its specialized collection of print and electronic resources consists of over 30,000 volumes; over 400 print journals; a collection of special focus e-journals; and a variety of bibliographic and full-text, online databases.

Dixey earned a B.A. from the University of Connecticut and an M.L.I.S. from Simmons College. Most recently, she served as Content Manager of OneSource Information Services, Inc., in Concord, Massachusetts; and previously, as Business Information Specialist and Instructor, Arthur D. Little School of Management in Chestnut Hill. Dixey is a Connecticut native, and served as Serials Assistant at the Connecticut State Library in Hartford for three years. She is active in the sport of rugby; playing, coaching, and currently serving as an International Athlete Director on the Board of Directors of USA Rugby.

According to Brian J. Clement, Chief Information Officer, Technical and Information Services, Rensselaer at Hartford, "Mary brings a wealth of experience to Rensselaer. During her 19-year career, she has worked in a variety of library settings, from the Connecticut State Library to corporate libraries to graduate school libraries to a business information vendor. Each of these positions presents a different perspective on libraries and the services that they offer. I believe Mary’s varied career path has positioned her for success at Rensselaer. Mary will be a most welcome addition to The Cole Library at Rensselaer at Hartford."

The Cole Library shares an online catalog with its sister library, the Folsom Library at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Cole’s Web site (www.ewp.rpi.edu/hartford/library) provides access to both regional academic library catalogs and those across the nation. Cole has full membership in OCLC, Inc., an international bibliographic system, and has borrowing privileges with over 5,000 member institutions.
