Events Rensselaer at Hartford Faculty Members Receive Promotions HARTFORD, CONN Three faculty members at Rensselaer at Hartford recently received promotions: Houman Younessi, Ph.D., to Professor, Department of Engineering and Science; Peter W. Olson, Ph.D., to Associate Professor, Lally School of Management and Technology; and James P. Stodder, Ph.D., to Associate Professor, Lally School. Dr. Younessis (www.ewp.rpi.edu/hartford/~houman/) areas of expertise include: object technology, software (development) process, software engineering empirical research, and business process re-engineering. He was recently awarded a seed grant coordinated through the Office of Research at the Troy campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for his proposal entitled, "Towards the Development of a Robust but Highly Efficient Software Process for the Internet Age." He has over fifty publications including three books, the most recent of which, Object-Oriented Defect Management of Software, was published last year. He has presented papers on all six of the inhabited continents and is on the advisory committees of many organizations. Dr. Olson is a member of the M.B.A. and the M.S. degree curriculum committees at the Hartford campus reevaluating the course content, sequencing of course offerings, and identifying existing target markets. He has published numerous articles; received several research grants; and has been an editorial advisor of various journals, manuscripts, books, and research proposals. He has worked in national and international executive management positions and currently sits on the Board of Directors of several corporations. In addition, he has done extensive international management consulting for Fortune 500 companies. Dr. Olsons areas of expertise include: international management, international marketing, and international negotiations. Dr. Stodder (www.ewp.rpi.edu/hartford/~stodder/), a member of the Hartford Association of Business Economists, recently had an article published in The Connecticut Economy. He is also one of the authors of the book, Better Thinking, Better Results: Using the Power of Lean as a Total Business Solution, which was selected as a Shingo Research and Professional Publication Prize Recipient for 2003. He has many published articles, and has presented papers in Montreal, Buenos Aires, London, Cambridge, Lisbon, and Vienna. His areas of expertise include: transitional (ex-Communist) economies, income distribution, pollution credits, and alternative exchange systems.
