Enter and WIN!

Can you solve this problem?

“What is the total weight of the marbles in the water in Newtons?”
(Clues: The weight of one marble is 5000 dynes and the radius of one marble is 8.23 mm. Neglect the surface tension of the water.)

GRAND PRIZE for the closest
guess is the choice of:

  • Kodak CX4230 Zoom Digital Camera, or
  • Palm m130 PDA, or
  • Archos Jukebox 10 mp3 Player (10mb)

Second prize: A Rensselaer Sweatshirt
Third prize: Two FREE Passes to the New England Air Museum

You can view the marble tanks in two locations:

  • Hartford Campus - at the Cole Library, 5th floor
  • Groton Site - at the Student Lounge

The contest runs from Tuesday, February 18, 2003 through Tuesday, February 25, 2003.

Fill out an official entry form by printing your answer along with your name and daytime phone number and drop it in the entry box.

  • Rensselaer employees are not eligible to win, however their participation is encouraged for recognition and other prizes at the next Rensselaer Community Meeting.
  • Enter as many times as you like on separate entry forms.
  • The closest guess WINS!
  • In case of a tie, the winner will be selected at random from the correct entries by the judges.
  • The decision of the judges is final.
  • You need not be present to win.

The marbles will be donated to Rensselaer at Hartford’s Summer Computer Camp.

Also, be sure to stop by the Hartford Cafeteria for daily creative, engineering-related offerings!
