Only faculty can request that items be put on reserve in the Cole Library. Textbooks are not automatically placed on reserve.
When choosing a loan period, please consider:
- How long students will need to review the reserve items.
- Number of students in your class.
- Students are subject to fines of two dollars per day per item if they return materials late.
Submit lists of materials to the library to be put on reserve (with loan periods) four weeks before the beginning of each term. Submit lists by e-mail to or by post or campus mail.
Please specify how long you would like students to be able to keep the items you have placed on reserve. Examples of loan periods:
- 2 hours (in library)
- 1 day (overnight)
- 2 days
- 1 week
If you wish to approve a loan period other than the one specified in your original request, whether for a particular student or permanently, please e-mail to or call the library at (860)548-2490 or (800)433-4723 x2490. Alternatively, you can give the student a note to bring to the library.
