homepage COURSE RESERVES (FACULTY)
Faculty may request that items be placed on reserve in the Cole Library. Items are placed on reserve only at the request of faculty. Textbooks are not automatically placed on reserve.

Lists of materials to be placed on reserve (specifying loan periods) must be received by the library four weeks prior to the beginning of each term. Lists may be submitted by e-mail to or by postal or campus mail.

Please specify how long you would like students to be able to keep the items you have placed on reserve. Possible loan periods are as follows:

  • 2 hours (in library)
  • 1 day (overnight)
  • 2 days
  • 1 week
When choosing a loan period, please consider the length of time that students may need to spend reviewing the items you have on reserve. Also consider the number of students that will be in your class. Students will be subject to fines of two dollars per day per item if materials are returned late.

The library will not grant a loan period other than the one specified by the faculty member without the approval of the faculty member. If you wish to grant approval for a modified loan period, either for a particular student or permanently, then please do so by e-mail to or by calling the library at (860)548-2490 or (800)433-4723 x2490. You may also provide a note for a student to bring to the library.
