LOCATING A COMPANY
ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB
General Information Databases Catalogs Research Guides
Company Web sites can be excellent sources of information for items such as recent news, financials, contact information and company history. Use the following strategies to locate a company's Web site, if you don't know the URL:
  1. Try entering http://www.[companyname].com

For example, CocaCola can be found at http://www.cocacola.com, Raytheon is at http://www.raytheon.com and Starbucks is at http://www.starbucks.com.

  2. Use directories:

  3. Use WHOIS to search for domain names registered to your company.

  4. You may wish to see if the Library has provided a link to your company's Web site in our Industry Data Finder. Check the Company Links section of the appropriate Industry's page.

  5. Use a search engine such as AltaVista or HotBot to search for references to your company on the Web.
