STANDARD INDUSTRIAL CLASSIFICATION (SIC)
When using many databases and reference sources it is useful to know the SIC code for the industry you are studying. SIC codes for these industries include the following:

• SIC 2211 Broadwoven Fabric Mills, Cotton
• SIC 2253 Knit Outerwear Mills
• SIC 2273 Carpets and Rugs
• SIC 2385 Waterproof Outerwear
• SIC 3143 Men's Footwear, Except Athletic
• SIC 3144 Women's Footwear, Except Athletic

NORTH AMERICAN INDUSTRY CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (NAICS)

The SIC system has recently been replaced by the NAICS. Only a few sources are now using these codes, but more will be making the switch in the near future. NAICS codes for these industries include the following:

• NAICS 31321 Broadwoven Fabric Mills
• NAICS 31411 Carpet and Rug Mills
• NAICS 315291 Infants' Cut and Sew Apparel Manufacturing
• NAICS 316213 Men's Footwear (Except Athletic) Manufacturing
• NAICS 316214 Women's Footwear (Except Athletic) Manufacturing
