STANDARD INDUSTRIAL CLASSIFICATION (SIC) When using many databases and reference sources it is useful to know the SIC code for the industry you are studying. SIC codes for these industries include the following:

• SIC 2841 Soap and other Detergents, except Specialty Cleansers
• SIC 2842 Specialty Cleaning, Polishing and Sanitation Preparations
• SIC 2844 Perfumes, Cosmetics and other Toilet Preparations

This is not a complete list of codes for these industries, merely a sample. See the SIC MANUAL for additional codes, also in the Cole Library at REF HF 1042 .A55.

NORTH AMERICAN INDUSTRY CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (NAICS)b>

The SIC system has recently been replaced by the NAICS. Only a few sources are now using these codes, but more will be making the switch in the near future. NAICS codes for these industries include the following:

• NAICS 325611 Soap and other Detergent Manufacturing
• NAICS 325612 Polish and Other Sanitation Good Manufacturing
• NAICS 32562 Toilet Preparation Manufacturing

These are samples, not complete lists, of SIC and NAICS codes for these industries. Use the following sources to identify additional SIC and NAICS codes for your company or industry.
