SIC & NAICS Codes
|
|
Many databases and reference sources are organized by SIC and NAICS codes, so you will need these codes for your research. The codes classify companies and industries by their primary line of business.
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC)
SIC codes for construction and building materials industries include the following:
- SIC 15 General Building Contractors
- SIC 24 Lumber & Wood Products
- SIC 1521 General Contractors, Single Family Houses
- SIC 1611 Highway and Street Construction
- SIC 2421 Sawmills and Planing Mills
- SIC 2435 Hardwood Veneer and Plywood
- SIC 3275 Gypsum Products
North American Industry Classification System (NAICS)
The NAICS system is replacing the SIC system. Though most databases and reference sources are still using SIC codes, many are, or will soon be, beginning the switch to the NAICS system. NAICS codes for construction and building materials industries include the following:
- NAICS 23321 Single Family Housing Construction
- NAICS 23411 Highway & Street Construction
- NAICS 32113 Sawmills
- NAICS 321211 Hardwood Veneer & Plywood Manufacturing
- NAICS 321911 Wood Window & Door Manufacturing
- NAICS 32742 Gypsum Product Manufacturing
These are samples, not complete lists, of SIC and NAICS codes for these industries. Use the following sources to identify additional SIC and NAICS codes for your company or industry.
