SIC & NAICS Codes
|
|
Many databases and reference sources are organized by SIC and NAICS codes, so you will need these codes for your research. The codes classify companies and industries by their primary line of business.
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC)
SIC codes for the automotive industry include the following:
- SIC 3711 Motor Vehicles and Passenger Car Bodies
- SIC 3714 Motor Vehicle Parts and Accessories
North American Industry Classification System (NAICS)
The NAICS system is replacing the SIC system. Though most databases and reference sources are still using SIC codes, many are, or will soon be, beginning the switch to the NAICS system. NAICS codes for the automotive industry include the following:
- NAICS 336111 Automobile Manufacturing
- NAICS 336312 Gasoline Engine and Engine Parts Manufacturing
- NAICS 336399 Other Motor Vehicle Parts Manufacturing (includes air bag assemblies)
These are samples, not complete lists, of SIC and NAICS codes for these industries. Use the following sources to identify additional SIC and NAICS codes for your company or industry.
