...access subscription databases?
From the library?
- At login, enter Rensselaer at Hartford network login ID and password
- Choose a database:
- For databases listed A-Z, use pulldown menu near top of page
- For databases organized by subject, use Research Help link in gray navigation area on left
- For assistance with your account, contact RPI Hartford's Technical & Information Services (TIS) at helpdesk@ewp.rpi.edu or (860) 548-5311.
From off campus?
- You must start from the library's home page or database lists to authenticate.
- Choose a database:

- For databases organized by subject, use Research Help link in gray navigation area on left
- Enter your R@H network ID and password.
- Enter your R@H network ID and password again.

RPI Hartford network accounts are available to RPI Hartford students, faculty, and staff only. Accounts are assigned automatically upon registration using a default login ID and password. Contact TIS at (860) 548-5311 or by e-mail to helpdesk@ewp.rpi.edu for assistance.

After logging in, a page displays for the database you selected. If additional passwords are required they will be listed there.
...find out Why some databases are available only in the rpi Hartford building?
We appreciate the inconvenience for many students of making a trip to the campus. We have tried to negotiate contracts with our database vendors that allow for remote access, but some vendors will provide onsite access only.

The Cole Library reference staff is happy to help you. Come in, call us at (860) 548-2490 or e-mail lib-info@ewp.rpi.edu.When we're not available, check within the database for help links. Some even have telephone hotlines for search assistance and other advice.

...search the Cole Library catalog on the web?
From the library's home page type your search terms in the search catalog box. Rensselaer Libraries' Catalog includes the collections of Cole Library and the libraries on the Troy campus.
...check for a particular journal or magazine?
Check our e-Journal Finder for electronic titles, or the Rensselaer Libraries' Catalog for print and electronic versions.
Borrowing Books
...borrow books from the Cole Library if I am not an rpi hartford student?
Borrowing privileges are restricted to Rensselaer at Hartford students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Others can request items through interlibrary loan services at their local or corporate library.
Can I use my public library card in the Cole Library?
We do not accept public library cards, but you can ask your local library for an interlibrary loan to borrow books from our collection.
