The
CAPSTONE Course Requirement
The M.S. in Management is designed to provide
students with the knowledge, skills, and capabilities to be
professional contributors and technical managers in a functional
area of organizations. It is intended for students who want
to acquire more expertise in a specialized area before they
seek general management skills and capabilities later in their
careers. All students enrolled in the M.B.A. and M.S. programs
in the Lally School of Management and Technology are required
to complete a 3-credit CAPSTONE course. The CAPSTONE serves
as an opportunity for students to synthesize the body of knowledge
gained during their course of study and is ordinarily completed
in the final term of the degree program.
CAPSTONE Course Requirement for the
M.B.A. Program
The CAPSTONE course requirement for the M.B.A. program is
satisfied by students taking the required course MGMT-6660
Strategy, Technology, and Entrepreneurship.
CAPSTONE Course Requirement for the
M.S. Program
The CAPSTONE course requirement for the M.S. program can be
satisfied by:
- Taking MGMT-6680 Strategy, Technology,
and Global Competitive Advantage or MGMT-7540 Leadership
and Organizational Improvement.
- Conducting an independent research project
(MGMT-7980) with the approval of a full-time faculty advisor.
The independent research should result in a high-quality
research paper that is suitable for publication in a journal.
Such efforts are separate and independent of course work
used to satisfy other M.S. program requirements.
